Of all the places in Bali that we love, the Southwest region is by FAR our favorite. Uluwatu and Jimbaran are both excellent locations for white sand beaches, cliff top views, surfing, and relaxing. They’re also less tourist than neighboring Seminyak and Kuta, which is a nice change if you’re looking for more chill than party.
We came to Jimbaran just after leaving our crazy stressful jobs and found the most perfect slice of Balinese Heaven here, and I’m so excited to share it with you! Whether you’re planning an affordable romantic getaway with your friend, lover or spouse, Jimbaran does not disappoint. It also makes the PERFECT honeymoon spot in all of Bali because it still has the rustic roots, as opposed to the 5 star resorts in Sanur.

How To Get Around Bali:
Driver: There’s no easy way around Bali, unless you hire a driver. If you’re looking for a reliable, affordable, safe driver, Mr. Agus Yudi is your man! He’s by far the BEST driver we’ve had in the many months we’ve spent exploring Bali and his english is GREAT! Contact information on photo below:
Scooter: The most popular mode of transportation in all of Bali. You can rent one for $5-7USD per day. NOTE: PLEASE be careful on these scooters as I’ve personally met people who’s brakes have gone out and crashed, breaking countless bones and ending up in the hospital. Do get travel insurance prior to coming (as you should for any trip).
Where To Store Your Boards/Suitcases:
If you’re in need of storing your surfboards or suitcases for a day, week, month, etc., then Bali Board Storage in Kuta (near Discovery Mall) is the BEST place around. We stored 2 suitcases and 2 duffel bags for the day for around $10USD. The owner is super friendly and they are really safe and reliable.
Where To Stay In Jimbaran:
Airbnb La Joya II Biu Biu:
La Joya II is A-M-A-Z-I-N-G, I can’t even describe it…I truly cannot believe we found this place on Airbnb. It’s a PERFECT spot for honeymooners on a budget as it has EPIC clifftop views, an infinity pool, a delicious restaurant, a spa, a secret beach and excellent service. You’ll have your own private, 2 story bungalow, decorated in authentic Bali decor. We will forever stay here when we come to Jimbaran and at $73USD, you cannot beat it!
Ayana Resort & Spa:
For someone with a bigger budget, Ayana Bali is THE place to stay. A clifftop hotel that is totally lux and has everything you could need: spa, multiple restaurants, and the famous Rock Bar. They even offer cooking classes. $228USD/night
Where To Eat In Jimbaran:
Set on top of Jimbaran’s epic cliffs, Rock Bar Bali is one of the most popular destinations in Bali for sunsets, cocktails and entertainment. Be sure to make a reservation and/or go early…it’s crowded!
Jimbaran is known for it’s seafood and Lia Cafe is the perfect spot to enjoy it. Make reservations for sunset dinner, you won’t be disappointed.
What To Do In Jimbaran:
Jimbaran Beach is best known for its sunsets and seafood cooked on the beach. Don’t miss this…it’s truly an unforgettable experience!
Jimbaran Fish Market:
Jimbaran Fish Markets is such a unique expeirnece-you can select your fish and it’s grilled right in front of you!

If you’re in need of a barber (for men only) while in Jimbaran, then there is no better place than Seven Barber Bali– they’ll hook you up. With multiple locations and less than $5 a haircut, you can’t go wrong.
If you’re wanting to get some ink done while visiting Kuta, then there is NO better place or talented artist than Tika Lines at ‘Get Inked At Bali Ink.’ Josh and I were both SUPER impressed with the studio, it’s cleanliness, and Tika’s amazing talent.
If you’re looking for a gym in Jimbaran, then Body Star Fitness is your place. Although the equipment is a bit dated and the floor looks a bit frightening, it’s hot inside and there aren’t any treadmills, the building is really large, the staff is friendly and there are plenty of weights to get in a great workout. $25,000IDR/visit ($2USD).
The rainy season in Bali is October-April. You can still go (we did) and have a great time, just expect daily showers and some cloudy skies.
Be sure to get duty free alcohol when you land at the airport, it’ll save you a lot of money!
